Looks like it's Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood now!!!
It looks great to me. That should shake things up at city Hall

cheers
Hey Ben. Do we have to wait until the next election to ask again about the ice oval gravel? Our own PG "gravelgate".
On Ben's show I listened how Ben asked Mr. Basserman about the ice oval gravel. Wow! Ben cut him to ribbons. Then good ol' Shirley Gratton was on his show. Ben asked her a simple question about her accomplishments. The silence was deafening. She should have replied how dexterous she was with a rubber stamp at the council meetings. I am very disappointed that four incumbents got re-elected. Obviously only half the voters don't have a clue. Other than that I have enough to whine about for the next three years. Thanks.
where are you getting your vote counts from? Dane Greenwell 4523? Thats the numbers I see elsewhere.
It appears that Dane attracted many votes that may have had a huge impact on the outcome. Congratulations on a very good showing Dane. You are to be congratulated. Very impressive for such a young man.
Congrats to all who won seats. Time to pull up the sleeves and get to work as the expectations are going to be high.
It's interesting to observe the background, if that's what people vote on, of the top of vote getters. It was dominated by working man background and small business experince.

I wonder how that will mesh with the detached media background of the new mayor? Interesting.
Who is going to speak for the average person now that "Moose" is toast?
"Who is going to speak for the average person now that "Moose" is toast"

How ironic that the "average" folks didn't think of him enough to re-elect him. Maybe he was confused as to what the average person in PG actually wanted from a candidate.
Dane's numbers are a typo I would think. He had 260 after 5 polls, then 312 after 7 and 434 after 8, then shot up a few thousand in the final tally.
Hope that Green remebers that to vote for a group that you are a member of is called a conflict of intrest and there are lots of eyes on her.
You got that right!!! But it is easy for her to step down from the downtown board. Let's watch if she does the ethically right thing and then judge her accordingly.

It is difficult for her to remove herself as a member though. She would have to relocate her business since the "membership" is automatic if you have property in that part of downtown, and there lies the "problem" with the whole DBIA. It is not a voluntary association.
Taking that one step further. You could argue that every single member of Council that owns property in the city is in a conflict of interest. They are voting to improve a city. They stand to gain from any city survival tactic shich tends to maintain or improve the property values in the city.

Of course, if they vote for a tax increase, they vote themselves a tax increase as well. Despite that, they will still vote for a tax increase.
I'm fairly happy w/ the outcome; although I would have liked to have had all old concillors gone...oh well, hopefully the new ones will straighten them out. Why is everyone so afraid of the city spending $$$? That's how good cities are built - you get what you pay for.
Nice to see changes in City Council. What I am disappointed in is the lack of coverage. I turned on the TV around 9:15 and watched for about 1/2 hour. All I found out during that time was that Rogers was Mayor and Moose and Shirley were out. There was all kinds of information on the Vanderhoof and Quesnel elections, even the number of votes some rec'd but nothing for PG. Thanks to Opinion 250 I am able to get the actual numbers and see who is in and who is out. PGTV was really asleep on the job that was terrible coverage and hardly worth staying up for. Wake up PGTV theres elections going on.
PGTV cut off coverage without any warning. That was very poor, no signing off. Makes us look like a second-rate City.
Good riddance to Moose and Shirley.
PGTV said goodby to Colin. Which was good to hear. Aside from Green getting a seat on council we couldnt have done better. Green could scew the whole process. There are two others that have been elected that have a big interest in downtown.

The downtown needs fixing but its only part of the city. There are many other things that also need to be fixed. And the most important one is the budget.

Cheers
As a business owner (not property owner), and a citizen of PG, I'm ecstatic about the results. I believe the people of this city made a strong stand for what they want. Finally. There are many past and now more than just one new council member who own businesses in the city, downtown and elsewhere. A past mayor owned Northern Hardware. A past councillor was the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce the whole time she was in council.
Don't hear too many comments from everyone on this website about that. No comments about Garth, Cameron, or Dave (who is a property owner). Just about Shari Green, I wonder why?? I'm sure the administration at the city will tell her Monday she has to step down as President of the BIA, just as I'm pretty sure she already knows that.
I'm fairly sure that I either read a comment by her (or heard in an interview) that she would resign her position in the DBIA if she was elected.
Bridge, I have to say that 8 thousand plus city voters disagree with you about Shari Green. She'll do a smashing good job and will be a great asset to the rest of the great team selected by the citizens of Prince George.............
Why would she do a better job on Council than she has on the DBIA? Getting more money by taking in people that do not want to be taken into the DBIA fold; skewing the boundaries of the proposed addition that Parkwood is not included; not knowing that there are more people than she thought tht are opposed; not making people aware of what exactly they will do with the addtional money.

To me, that does not look like the kind of example I would want a City Councillor to set.
You do realize she is only one vote at the BIA with 7-10 (not sure exact number) other business owners sitting at the table also??? I don't know how she voted on this issue, but there are other people deciding also. She is the president of the assoc. but she doesn't have veto power or anything. And yes busted betty is right, 9469 voters in this city think she will do an excellent job.
She must be doing something right - you all seem to be chatting about her and nobody else. She didn't get this far without a lot of support from people who want to make a difference for me and YOU!
