Prince George, B.C.- The Northern Lights Festival is nearly here and the price remains the same, $10 per car.
On the 28th, Connaught Hill will come alive with light as the second annual light festival gets underway. There are some new activities with the festival this year,  including a Senior’s night on December 11th.   The event will take place at the Ramada, and will have tour buses take seniors up the hill, the event at the Ramada will be hosted by Shirley Bond.
The organizers say they have an extra $15 thousand dollars in sponsorships.   Another added attraction will be the “poinsettia parade.” This won’t be an actual parade, rather, a series of window displays featuring poinsettias and lights. The Northern has donated its main front window so Santa can visit with local children, art displays and a north pole mail box. The light displays will also have both a  Santa  sleigh display and a nativity display and there will be fairy lights in all the trees.
He budget this year is $237,600 of which $77,500 is from sponsorships and admissions from last year and a further $160,100 of in kind donations, mostly from the City a large portion of which was labour costs to set up the displays.
The Festival runs November 28th to January 2nd.

I refuse to pay $10 to see a CHRISTMAS light display when I can see a better one for free (Candy Cane Lane) Why does this city sponsor such a venture when private citizens do a better job for free? I guess it gives some of the in crowd a claim to fame.
We went to see this last year and were happy to pay the $10 per car which ended up being only $2 per person in our case. It was very worth it and I can't wait to see it again. Our so-called "Candy Cane Lane" has seriously gone down hill in the past years; I guess the houses are getting older and fewer people are participating like they used to. More neighbourhoods should start up their own Candy Cane lane. I love Christmas and all of the displays so I will be there.
We went to see it last year and we thought it was worth it. It must be a lot of work to set it all up and keeping the road open must cost extra bucks as well. We would like to see some additions each year....We will be going back again. A job well done.
Doesn't the BIA sponsor this event??
I guess the reporter didn't feel the need to mention that here. Interesting...
What a waste of money and electricity, has this town ever heard of conserving energy? Going green? Doing our part? The BIA would sponsor such a wasteful event.
