Prince George, B.C. - Provincial NDP Leader, Carole James will be in Prince George Monday, holding a rural caucus meeting.
The group will meet with business, civic and community leaders to discuss the proposed rural fund.
“Rural British Columbians should benefit from the wealth they create,” said James. She announced the fund during her speech to the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention in September. The rural caucus meetings are part of the consultation process to determine the best way to design and implement the fund. The caucus will also be making stops in Kamloops and Cranbrook later in the week.
NDP MLA Robin Austin, who is the opposition critic for rural issues, said the public is invited to offer their feedback at a roundtable discussion Monday evening at the College of New Caledonia.
“We’re gathering in Prince George to present our framework and we also want to listen to the ideas of people who live in the Central Interior about their vision for the future,” said Austin.
The roundtable begins at 7 p.m. Monday in room 2-107 at CNC.
The caucus has several meetings scheduled with groups including the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, Initiatives Prince George and Stand Up for the North. Individual members of the caucus will also be meeting stakeholders in their respective critic areas.

Is the House no longer in session?
Typical NDP, just can't stop wasting money.
If the NDP gets in power again they will need to start a Rural Abandonned House fund so the utilities get paid when the people walk away fom their mortgages. The NDP didn't do this last time around so the NDP should be better prepared this election. Another party platform plank to shove the taxpayer off of.
The first ones to dip into the Rural Abandonned House fund will be the party faithful on Opinion250!
