New Cultural Centre Opens West of P.G.

More than 500 people attend the grand opening of the Saik'uz Cultural Exchange Centre and Art Gallery at Bednesti Lake
Over 500 people were on hand on the weekend to officially open the new $820,400 dollar First Nations Arts and Cultural Center at Bednesti Lake, west of Prince George.
Named the Saik’uz Cultural Exchange Center and Art Gallery, Chief Colleen Erickson says "The new facility is a really important step for us because its takes us into the tourism market, which is quickly becoming a most important aspect of today’s economy."
The Federal Government provided $624,610 through the Softwood Industry Community Economic Adjustment Initiative
The facility will provide a venue for art sales that will increase the material wealth of individual artists.
UNBC has also contributed by constructing a garden that will feature plants used by famous Medicine woman, Sophie Thomas. All of the native species used by Sophie will be grown at the site.
