After being sworn in, and donning the Chain of Office, Rogers turned to former Mayor, Colin Kinsley and  reflecting the reality of his new post said “I didn’t realize this thing ( the Chain of Office ) was so heavy, both literally and figuratively.”
Before starting his inaugural address, Rogers thanked Kinsley for his “unparalleled commitment and leadership to B.C.’s Northern capital.”
Rogers also thanked his family and the voters of Prince George for their support.
He told those who attended the special ceremony at the Prince George Playhouse there are three goals he will strive to achieve.
1. Economy: must continue to identify and eliminate the barriers to economic growth
2. Environment: continue to press for improved air quality “Failure to address this issue will limit our economic future”
3. Social needs: housing community based policing, and says while the challengers are complex he would like to increase the involvement of local citizens to find solutions.
He said he and the new Council are here as a consequence and desire to move the City in a new direction.
All of the new Councillors were also welcomed to step forward to make comments:
Dave Wilbur: “Overwhelming to stand here, not just because of the duty and responsibility.”
Cameron Stolz: Offered special thanks to his three children, and to his father   “I am very honoured and very privileged to be here.”
Brian Skakun: Thanked his colleagues who were not elected or who opted not to run. Said he looked forward to working with the new team.

In this time of financial depression I hope the new council who we help gets elected leaves the wood burners of this town alone. It’s hard enough to make ends meet with the increase in taxes, utilities, etc.

Donny leave your coaching skills at home. You need some coaching as it is. Lets hope some of those new guys will teach you a few new tricks that you are badly in need of.

Cheers
doneright... "financial depression?" Wow! What a gloomy Gus you are. Let's have another cup of coffee let's have another piece of pie. Just like the song says. Gershwin I think.
