No Charges, But It Isn't Over for Two RCMP Officers

While the Crown has decided  two RCMP Officers will not be charged, that doesn't mean the case is closed, or that the officers are off the hook.

The two  were accused of  being involved with young prostitutes while stationed in Prince George.  A criminal investigation failed to  provide enough evidence to proceed with charges.

"E" Division Communications Acting Staff Sargeant John Ward, says  the force takes such allegations very seriously and the case remains open and active, meaning the two could  be charged if  new evidence  is produced.

There was also an internal investigation of the allegations.  That  probe is now complete and the report is in the hands of the Deputy Commissioner, Beverly Busson,  "It is up to her to decide what the next steps will be" says Ward.

The Deputy Commissioner has a wide range of options before her.  At the very least, the two officers could be slapped with conduct unbecoming an RCMP officer, at the very worst she  could forward the allegations to an adjudication process.

There is no indication of how long it may be before she makes a  decision following her review of that internal investigation.

Meantime, the two officers remain suspended with pay.
