The two fires that are the source of the blue haze in Prince George, have made some changes overnight.

The larger of the two, the Tatuk Lake fire is no longer five fires in the same area, it is now one, and has grown another 5,000 hectares. That fire is now covering 18,000 hectares, or, an area about half the size of the City of Prince George.

Prince George Fire Center Information Officer, Faye Hirshfield says heavy smoke made it difficult for crews to map that fire overnight. A fire camp is being set up in Vanderhoof.

As for the Chinlak fire, which is burning in the area where the Stuart and Nechako Rivers meet, the blaze has jumped the Nechako River and is now flaming on the other side. However, Fire Information Officer Hirshfeld says that blaze is still under 300 hectares and a special fire management team has been established for that blaze.
