Prince George, B.C.- The B.C. Ministry of the Attorney General will announce later this morning if the four RCMP officers involved in the dealings with Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski will face charges.
All indications are the decision will be, no charges.
Dziekanski died after being tasered at the Vancouver International Airport in October of 2007.
Following the official announcement from the Attorney General, there will be a news conference in which the RCMP will make an official statement.
Dziekanski’s mother has been made aware of the decision and while she had promised she wouldn’t reveal the details, she has told the CBC she is “angry.”

The only question is why were four fine members of RCMP tortured for so long? The Pole was a hard core alcoholic that had been without a drink for over 40 hours. The Pole was a nicotine fiend without a cigarette for over 40 hours. Mommy bought him a ticket but didn't give him cash to support his addictions during his travel. The Pole was politely confronted by RCMP and proceeded to flee and grab a stapler to bash an RCMP in the head with. He was Tasered for 2 seconds before rolling, falling and breaking the Taser wires. The Pole was Tasered again but continued to fight like a madman after the Taser shock had ended. The only one responsible for the death of the Pole was the Pole.

Elan, Did you know the "Pole" personaly? Ignorant comment. "politely confronted by RCMP" Sure didn't look like it to me. "four fine members of RCMP tortured" another joke.
Time to start circulating that video again to the world.
I agree with acrider54. that was a ignorant remark. Are you a member of the RCMP? One of the officers already have a bad strick against him regarding another case. There has been a lot bad news lately about your so called "fine members". The poor man did not speak english and when his mother was not there he got confused not knowing how to ask for help be cause there was no interputer there to help him.
I hope you do not live in P.G. we do not need your kind around here. I feel sorry for you that you could be so crass.
Well, I think we know what the turn out of this case is going to be. Dead people don't talk.
Elan's comments are truly ignorant and IMO represents the opinion of the RCMP.

Once again the RCMP have proven to the world that they are above the law and unaccountable for their actions. Someone died and if the tazers are not removed from service, then the officers should be charged because its either one or the other....

The use of a tazer is the use of an unnatural force of nature who consequences can not be predicted, and therefore tazer use does not equate to a lawful practice. To say that an officer in an uncontrolled circumstance can apply the law with a weapon who's very nature is unpredictable is ludicrous from the start and an insult to the rule of law and the rights of individuals to due process when being executed by the state.

At least with blunt trama and physical force a decision is made to use a level of force required, and it does not rely on the black science of unnatural forces such as an electrical charge to disrupt a persons biological system.

The government needs to now step in and do the right thing to protect Canadian citizens from our police forces... if this means hiring people tough enough to become a cop as a bonifide requirement, then so be it.
I think the whole justice system needs a big overhaul. The RCMP can taser someone and kill them, being impaied again killing someone, leaving the scene of an accident while being impaired being suspended with pay the list goes on and on, they are the worst criminals of all, and legally and totally above the law, and have the government's permission to do so.
Lifesucks, me thinks you have a beef with the police. I doubt they are above the law! Yes there are some bad apples, and they are getting the lime light right now, (there seems to be a press feeding frenzie), but there are many good officers as well. (And that applies to all businesses and organizations.) With as many the tazers being recalled, as there is, for testing, one would think it was the equiptment fault not so much the officers, but as I don't have all the information I can not say if they were over zealous or not, maybe, maybe not. But the fellow who died, sure was not innocent either. Had he performed at home as he sid here I am sure he would have face the same repercussions as he did here. Would the result have been the same, who knows...
-"The Pole was a nicotine fiend without a cigarette for over 40 hours".
-"The Pole was a hardcore alcoholic that had been without a drink for over 40 hours".....
So,because of that he should be dead?
Should we kill all the nicotine fiends and hardcore alcoholics?
I have read some real winners on here Elan Moon, but you are indeed special!
If the Mounties "get away with this" it is my contention that all the RCMP badges be redesigned with the numbers 007 preceding their original badge numbers. So that in the future we can dispense with all this rigmarole when it comes to charges courts inquiries lawyers Attorneys General and judges and thereby letting the cops go to Tim's to commiserate their continuing bad press after any like incident in the future.
"Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre, was heavily criticized for providing a false version of events prior to the public release of the video."

He's good at that isn't he? Whenever I see his lips flapping (without thought) on the news I just want to reach through the screen and shove them up in another part of his body.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Dziekanski

Elen Moon made an extremely rude and racist remark. She reffered to Dziekanski as a "Pole" numerous time ( very racist). Try calling an african person a "nigger" and an uproar would happen. I definetely don't use that term for anyone. Dziekanski was lost in the airport for hours not knowing what to do. Elen moon should be dumped in Poland (assuming she does not know the language) and see if she can survive without any language help!!!
Lets all vote to get Elan Moon off the blog site
Well he will just come back with a different screen name. I have a feeling he has many names on here.
I read the wikipedia article, heidi and it also says that Dziekanski was also a convicted felon - for robbery. In canada, that means theft with violence used against a victim.

Do we want more convicted criminals immigrating to Canada? I'm not saying he deserved to die, but this bit of information helps to explain his short fuse at the airport.
As a teenager The_grand, he was 40 when he died from officer restraint.

Paul Pritchard said in an interview he heard an officer ask if he could/should use the taser BEFORE they even reached Robert.
Read the news and remember I told you so. I mean no disrespect to Polish people by referring to one as a Pole. Pollock is disrespectful to Polish people, not Pole. Yes he was a convicted felon. I have read that to immigrate to Canada, you must be able to speak rudimentary English. If he could, he might still be alive. The RCMP did not intend to cause his death, only to bring him under control. Just a bunch of Police hating people here.
Who cares, heidi....you want to make generalizations about the police, then others can make them about Dziekanski....obviously he was a loose cannon and he had the size and temper to back it up.....picking up a video monitor and smashing it, picking up chairs and barracading himself in the airport...these are obviously the actions of a criminally minded person....

Do you really want a list from around the world on "who cares"? I would love to put one together for you. Gotta love social networking!!!

Generalizations about the police? No, no,no...just talking about the "loose cannon" officers. They are people too. I don't generalize groups. We all have our own brains and choices. The ones that don't know either about brains or good choices shouldn't wear the uniform.

Two interesting words come to mind: Body Language.

Yeah, Dziekanksi's body language said tons: Like stay away from me, or I'll beat you to a pulp, and, I'm gonna smash your heads in with this metal stapler.

That's why he got tazered. Plus the fact he was nutso, six feet seven, and 300 pounds.

And I thank god, you don't wear a uniform, people would get killed waiting for you to do something.
Like 10 plus hours???? hmmm??? yeah good point grand! lol...

Night, night now.
I don't think 6'7" and 300 pounds is a fact. I work with a guy that size and Dziekanksi was no where near that big... although he was a large man... nothing 4 trained officers shouldn't be able to handle with billy clubs.

Any talk about what Dziekanksi did prior to this incident is a diversion from the fact that this man was killed by the over zealous use of an unreliable weapon endangering the life of an innocent until proven guilty individual. That is the fact we are all concerned with... while that and the fact the RCMP investigate themselves and have no public accountability....
I can guarantee you that if he had been set upon by 4 cops with batons, the injuries there would have caused yet another uproar.

I can guarantee you that if tazers are pulled then you go back to batons and guns......injuries there are much more serious than a tazer.... I can tell you from experience I'd rather be shot with a tazer than struck with a steel baton or shot (obviously).

And yes eagleone that was his size.
Who said physical force was required at all ? I've spent considerable amounts of time talking to people that I could take down in a heartbeat. Weapons or not. I've spent considerable amounts of time talking to people who could bash my head in, weapons or not. Just because they could, doesn't mean they will.

Unless you pre-emptively escalate the situation to violence.

How bad is he going to hurt you if you keep him 20 feet away ? Can you still hear what he is saying ? Can he still hear you ? Even if he doesn't understand english, the body language of giving him his space speaks volumes. There is so much I could tell you guys if you didn't just blatantly disregard it all, because at the heart of the matter you really just prefer to brutalize people in order to quell the fear you feel inside when you are in these situations.

Many years ago, street patrolmen looked after any situation with their bare hands, but mostly with their lips. Police officers in London carry only batons. We all do the same job. What gives ?
