Prince George, B.C.- It was a grateful but surprised Envoy Bruce Kirk of the Salvation Army this morning.

To Envoy Kirk’s surprise, Fichtner announced the Downtown Rotary had some very good news . “We had our Rotary luncheon yesterday and passed around the hat. We raised $4,095 and the Downtown Rotary agreed to match those funds, so we are donating $8,190 to the Salvation Army.”   While a broad smile was evident on Envoy Kirk’s face, there were tears in his eyes as he offered thanks “We are very grateful, this is so wonderful, thank you so very much”.
The Salvation Army has already started delivering Christmas hampers to families in need, helping 1821 people.
“We still need to have some people help us with our  Kettle Campaign. This Saturday is our biggest day, and we need some help in making sure the shifts are filled” says Kirk. If you are able to offer any assistance, call  the Salvation Army at 250-564-4000.

Great Job! The Rotary clubs in this town do so much, and don't often get the much deserved pat on the back. It's nice to see the Salvation army, which gives so much, benefit from the giving spirit of the Rotarians!
Hat's off to the Downtown Rotary Club!

The history of this particular club would humble even the most devout PG historian.
The members of this club have been instrumental in the growth and development of our fair city - - and they just keep on giving.

On a sadder note - this club has lost a lot of those long time members. I read today that John Goritsas, a long time member of this club, a long time PG businessman/architect, a person I had the honor of knowing, passed away a couple days ago.

He rarely misses a meeting and I know he will be missed.

Here's one for John!
