ICBC and Pine Centre Mall team up to combat auto crime during the holidays
The Insurance Corporation of B.C. is taking its Christmas campaign to combat auto crime and theft one step further this year...
"Each Christmas, people encounter theft and damage to their vehicles due to leaving valuables inside," explains I.C.B.C. Regional Loss Prevention Coordinator, Christine Silver.
This year, in addition to having local volunteers perform parking lot checks at Pine Centre Mall during the campaign, I.C.B.C. plans to hand out free shopping bags.
Silver says, "Our shopping bags are made of strong opaque paper, so thieves cannot see what you've bought and target your vehicle because of it."
The bags will be handed out at an information booth set up in the mall Monday morning, to officially kick off the six-week campaign. After that the free shopping bags will be available at the mall manager's office. Shoppers can also enter a draw for a chance to win vehicle anti-theft devices.
