Prince George, B.C.-If you have a little kitty, maybe a small pooch,  and you want to  take the bus, well the City of Prince George  has a deal for you!  Pets are now allowed on the bus with their humans, as long as the little critters are in a proper cage/ kennel that the owner can  hold on to.  This is a six month  test.

Here is the new policy:

* only  small, fur bearing and feathered pets  contained in a secure clean, hand-held cage are permitted on the bus

* the cage should be appropriate

* cages must be small enough to  fit on the owner's lap

*  one hand held cage per passenger

* passengers must hold on to their cages at all times and are respnsible for the safety of their pet

* If there is room on the bus, you can place the cage beside you on the floor. The cage should not block the aisle or restrict other passengers.

*

Your transit driver may refuse a trip if your pet poses a health or safety risk, or if it misbehaves.

Certified assistance animals may continue to use public transit as always. Owners of assistance animals should be prepared to show the animal's verification of training.

When the bus is busy, there may not be room for your pet. Call the Busline at (250) 5830011 and ask which trips tend to be busy.

to the pet's size.

Wow, that must be a small rat dog to be carried in a cage. Not fair to people that own real dogs.
Canis Rodentia :-)
With a maximum of two people on any bus I have seen lately I think it is just a matter of making yer companion Fido acceptable to the other person riding the bus.

Ok then, the question seems to be "Harbinger, do you like dogs?"
Like the old saying goes "The more I deal with people the more I like my dog". I got two. A big un and a little un.
great now instead of smelling the bums piss we now have to smell the animals piss that is just lovely
Why not lobby the local bus company to have washrooms installed on the buses? Just like Greyhound. We can also let the homeless on the bus (for a fee) to do their business instead of near storefront doors downtown. Seems like a win-win fer everyone. As long as the fee covers the cost of the TP and air fresheners.
