Prince George -   With two days left to go in the Christmas Kettle Campaign , The Salvation Army Reports today that they have collected $185,000 dollars as of noon Monday , with the kettles in operations until Wednesday at 3PM.

Last year the drive was able to raise $203,000 dollars which goes towards providing food and presents for needy families in this area.

Officials at the Sally Ann say they are hopeful that with the last big push they may be able to reach last year’s figures as more people are coming forward seeking assistance, that figure has risen to over 1800 people.

Envoy  Bruce Kirk of the Salvation Army says the Tree of Lights has raised $24,387 dollars surpassing last year’s total of $24,000. We have set a goal of $30,000 Kirk says and we are hoping to get there.

I am more concerned he says with the Kettle campaign because most people have already done their shopping and we have a lot more people to reach this year then in  2007

With checks, food, and gifts rolling in every day, there must be a pretty good chance the Salvation Army will achieve their targets. I have never seen such a generous community as Prince George and surrounding areas. That's what makes PG a special place to live, the People. We are very fortunate and blessed.
