PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prnce George Spruce Kings forward, Sean Ambrosie, has committed to a four year scholarship at the University of Connecticut. UConn is an NCAA Division I school offering Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional degrees in many areas including Business Administration. With an expansive athletics program, the UConn Huskies Mens Hockey team plays out of the Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC).
Sean Ambrosie has consistently contributed offensively and is currently second in team scoring and has been in the top twenty among BCHL point producers for much of the season; earning the nineteen year old a spot on the Interior Division All-Star team. Sean has turned heads in his first year in the BCHL for his offensive abilities highlighted by his strength on the puck down-low, long reach and strong skating. From Moorhead, Minnesota, Ambrosie learned of the Prince George Spruce Kings through long-time friend, Jordy Christian and was acquired from the Winnipeg South Blues of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the off-season.
“Being acquired by the Spruce Kings has been a big deal for me,” said Sean Ambrosie. “Since coming to the BCHL, I’ve had lots of exposure and this is a dream come true. I’m ready to go to college and pursue a career in business with a highly ranked school. The Huskies hockey program has been coming on and I feel I can step in and contribute, but that is next year; right now it is all about contributing to the (Spruce Kings) success.”
“The Prince George Spruce Kings organization is very happy that Sean was able to accomplish his goal of securing a four year hockey scholarship,” said Ed Dempsey, Spruce Kings general manager and head coach. “This is a real credit to Sean’s outstanding scholastic achievements that he can now combine his love of hockey and academics at an exceptional business school.”
“This most recent scholarship achievement is reason to be proud of the Spruce Kings hockey program,” continues Dempsey. “A program that develops a player’s natural abilities and allows a player with the strong skill set and work ethic that Sean possesses to be recognized and achieve an NCAA scholarship.”
Sean Ambrosie becomes the fourth player to commit to an NCAA Division I school this season and is the fifth committed player on the team’s roster.
