The deadline for  having all the ballots in on the Telus ratification vote has been extended to Friday, so it's not ikely the results will be ready until at least Saturday.

Telus had initially hoped to have all  ballots returned by today  and the results released by tomorrow.

The Negotiating Committee and the Executive of the Telecommunications Workers Union  have recommended the  agreement  be  ratified.
The extension was granted because when it was announced it would be a "mail-in" ballot,  the Remembrance Day   holiday was not  factored in when calculating delivery times.

In the meantime,  a big announcement from Telus today.  The company is committing $2 million to eligible charities across Canada in lieu of TELUS' Employee Charitable Giving Campaign (ECGC) for 2005.

Funding is normally provided through the annual campaign, which encourages employees and retirees to make charitable contributions that are matched by TELUS dollar for dollar. Because of the labnour dispute,  employees aren't able to make their usual contributions to the campaign, so for 2005, Telus will provide 100 per cent of the funding.

Last year, as part of the 2004 ECGC, TELUS employees and retirees donated $1 million, which was matched by TELUS for a total of $2 million that was disbursed to charities in communities across Canada.
