Why did gas go up so much, when I found a story on msn.ca that says the price of oil fell today to $43 per barrel???
Is the story incorrect, or are the gas stations bigger crooks than we ever dreamed (which is really saying something)

I was wondering that myself, many stations have raised it by almost 10 cents a liter today. I guess the gouging is starting again.

It was proved when gas was sky rocketing last time that the gas stations in PG were always 10cents or more than anywhere else. The price/barrel goes up a little and the gas stations raise alot..The price/barrel goes down and they lower by pennies. It is truly sickening that we cant even count on people in our own city to be fair. Goughing??? OH YES!!!!

Maybe you should follow the news. With the middle east preparing to cut production due to falling oil prices the demand/supply increases therefore increasing prices at the pump. Also with the Palastianian/Israli conflict, there is a concern that oil shipments may be reduced in the near future. Gas at 75 cents a litre is consistent with prices 4 years ago when oil was trading at the same levels. They reduced prices in a sufficient manner. Yes I agree a 10 cent hike (13%) is a little drastic. If oil sustains these levels there will be major cut backs in expansion and production in Alberta affecting many sectors of our economy. Oil prices need to be stabalized at $75-80/barrel and our economy should slowly turn around. Don't get me wrong, $1.50 a litre is screwing us all but $0.8-0.90 cents a litre is managable.

Oh, and Shellshadow, it isn't local PGer's that up there price. It is controlled by the main suppliers "Petro Canada, Shell and Esso. They tell each region what to sell gas for. Learn the facts before you accuse locals.

Last month when the price of crude fell to $50 per barrel, it was stated that the price was for the crude that would be delivered to the refineries in January 2009.
So here it is early January, the refineries are receiving the first of the "Cheap Crude", and the price of gas is rising by 10 cents per litre because of the latest Mid-East crisis.
Bottom line: BIG PROFITS FOR BIG OIL
