Council Has Light Agenda

Prince George, B.C.-  Initiatives Prince George appears before City Council this evening asking for support for an application to the Northern Development Initiatives Trust. 
 
The application is for $20 thousand dollars to go towards the development of two projects. One is a 4-8 page brochure on the industrial park. The brochure would be distributed during a couple of key international trade events this year. The second part is for research on air policy. The overall cost of the two projects is $85 thousand dollars with the balance of funding coming from IPG , the Airport and property owners.
 
Also on the agenda this evening:
  • the P.G. Council of Seniors will present its annual report. 
  • there is a request for the establishment of a Spirit of B.C. Task force to co ordinate events for the overnight Olympic torch relay events.

Dont these people already get over a million tax dollars per year? The project they are promoting hasnt even been built. What these guys need is a slap on the head.

The IPG is great at pushing paper around and getting funding to do it.
I think their budget is around 2.5 million per year, a lot of which I suspect goes to salaries.

The Northern Trust Initiative money came from the Sale of BC Rail and was to be used to develop projects in the North.


IPG should ask for funding to wind down their operation, it seems all they do is find different ways to spend taxpayers dollars. Do we really need them???
