Prince George, B.C. – The two day economic summit has wrapped up with the Premier saying Prince George will become the wood product showcase for the world.
Gordon Campbell says there is no doubt there are tough times ahead, however “B.C. will come the other side of this, stronger.” (click here for brief video of Premier's closing comments)
The Premier says B.C. is going to be an energy- transportation corridor for the continent, not just the country, the whole of North America.
He told the delegates to the summit that he is encouraged by the Federal Minister of Natural Resources saying there will likely be about one billion dollars available to help forestry workers, ( throughout the country)
He says there will be partnerships to ensure families in B.C. will have jobs so they will be confident about their future.
“We have lots of hard work to do in the next couple of years, and this is going to be a tough, tough year, but we have the tools to get through this.”
One of those tools will be the “Perceptions from the North” outline which will be developed by Initiatives Prince George, and delivered to the lower mainland. The message will be “we are all in this together.”
The Premier called on all delegates to develop the partnerships that will be necessary to emerge from the economic meltdown.

Will politicians ever subscribe to more a realistic and believable lingo? I would be more than satisfied (ecstatic) if P.G. would become the wood product showcase for Canada first.
Then, once it has a track record - on to the world, the galaxy and the universe!
