If you get a parking ticket today don’t despair, just tell the folks in Development Services at City Hall that you’ll go by that meter tomorrow and drop a quarter in the meter box. That should be sufficient to not get a ticket given how this same department has handled the matter of election signs exceeding the permit by Mayor Kinsley’s campaign.
Surely you and I are not different when it comes to enforcing by laws in this city and so we should receive equal treatment.
Dan Milburn of Development Services says he heard about the issue from Opinion 250, but he reasoned that it is okay to put signs up on provincial right of ways or private property. I think I’ll get him to come up with the excuses for my not putting money in the meter.
He did however change his tune somewhat when we raised the matter that there were signs posted all over city property,( property he has jurisdiction over) which exceeded the allowed limit.
By the way, why in the world was Milburn phoning us offering up some excuses? I thought that the people in the Mayor’s campaign group had put the signs in place. Did they employ City help? Why does it fall upon someone from city hall to hand out the excuses?
Well anyway back to my reasoning.
Dan, “That ticket I got in front of the Coast the other day while I was covering a story, Don’t worry, I’ll drop over there tomorrow and stick a quarter in the meter. Now can I have my ten bucks back, I really didn’t break any laws now did I?”
I’m Meisner and that is one man’s opinion.

I would like to see some of those folks employed at city hall develop a "guilt" complex!
I suggest to one and all,
Cover ups are the norm.
It would be nice to have a couple of "honest" individuals infiltrate city hall and get in with the real "powers that be."
In six months time I think the "clean sweep" would be a given, and inevitable.
When Milburn is covering the mayor's butt, you can rest assured he is covering his own!!!
Good point, Ben, as you have me wondering if any city employees were paid to erect those Kinsley signs.
I sincerely hope after this election you keep on top of the debt this city has incurred for the benefit of the taxpayers????????
That is really questionable.
