More Advertising Problems

The sign on the Prince George Playhouse bill board says, "Vote for Vogt" and "Vote for Kauk".

Problem is,  the digital marquis shouldn't be saying  vote for anyone.

Section 23 of the Prince George Playhouse Digital sign policy governing the use of that flashing sign you see at the intersection of Highway 16 and 97 is very specific.

Section #23 says  “No political or campaign messages are permitted on behalf of candidates for public office”.

The facility is owned by the City of Prince George, advertising is handled outside of that realm.

Opinion250 has attempted to  contact those who book the advertising for an explanation,  but there have been no replies to our calls.

People that run for or are in Goverment are like BANANAS..They are all Yellow, they hang in a Bunch, and NOT ONE IS STRIGHT
I think the responsibility for this lies with the person/persons who took advertsing dollars from these candidates. Isn't it interesting that they cannot be reached for comment!
could it be that Mr Vogt and Mr Kauk are considered above the bylaws as well? Hmmmm--I must make some new friends.
I disagree!
Jeannie is on the right track.

I have used the reader board for promoting a fund raising event. I got the impression that those who are running the service basically do so from their "home" computer. I would be surprised if they read their agreement or read it for content. Sort of like signing an agreement to rent a car. Tons of stuff you would like to strike out, but you also want to rent the car, so you cross your fingers and sign on the bottom and don't read anything ....

This is where the owner of the sign, i.e. the city, could have been a bit more pro-active and ensured those contracted to take care of the display board are reminded of the rules at election time.

I guess some of us just have a different way of looking at things and conduct business accordingly. If you want things done right, you cannot just cascade responsibility down to the next level. Our society is brokering too much these days. This is just an inconsequential tip of the iceberg. Look at forest and transportation safety to see a much more serious side of waht is basically the same phenomenon.
I have inquired into advertising on this sign a few years back and I used to deal with John Rustad. I don't know if he is still involved in advertsing since he became an MLA.

On another note, I did notice signs for Mr. Kauk and Mr. Vogt were hung in the windows of Shirley Bond's Constituency office.

I didn't think it was appropriate to allow candidates to advertise in a provincially paid for office. Just didn't seem right to me.
