Prince George, B.C. - Friends and family of Guy Mitchell Henry gathered at the parking lot of a popular Prince George restaurant Saturday afternoon to mark the one year anniversary of his death.

The 21 year old was gunned down January 24th, 2008 in what Prince George RCMP say was a targeted shooting.

Henry's mother Diane Henry says part of the goal of Saturday's vigil at 1804 Central Street East was to create awareness.

"We're trying to make a statement for all the kids in the streets that were already murdered.  Enough is enough.  We're just trying to say goodbye to Mitch at the same time, because a lot of stuff has happened through this and it's gonna get worse."

Henry's former girlfriend was also at the vigil.  Megan Erickson says she attended to support Henry's family and his friends.

"I just hope that people will try to realize what has happened and it could happen to anybody."

There was also a noticeable police presence during the memorial.  Constable Gary Godwin with the Prince George RCMP says the investigation into Guy Mitchell Henry's death is ongoing.

"This is still a very active and ongoing investigation, as are all of the murders we had last year.  Unfortunately, they were all shootings and three out of the four were drug and gang related.  We still need the public to give us some information.  There are people out there with specific information to each one of these murders.  Those are the people we really need to hear from."

Godwin says investigators do have a good idea about what's going on, but he says there are critical pieces of information, not unlike those of a puzzle, that police need to complete their investigation.

IMO how you get these guys is you keep them thinking... the best would be if they thought their victim was still alive to talk... but short of that I think mis-information tactically disseminated to key players at strategic times could easily flush them out... because really we are talking about only a handful of people that could be involved in a crime like this.. we have to assume they are of low intelligence to begin with considering the crime... and so we should be using their ignorance and the fear it breeds as a tool to flush them out IMO. There are ways they could do this....
While the death of this young man, and any person is tragic he was involved in the drug trade. Made decisions to hang out with a group of people who have no morals and like to kill and torture people to get to the top of their organization.

I wonder about how many people's lives have been ruined by his drug dealing. The parents who have spent hours and hours raising a child only to have the the child have the unfortunate experience of meeting this drug dealer and being forced into drugs. How many victims are there of this dead drug dealer ?
If you live by the sword then you should be prepared to die by the sword.. The only problem is our justice system doesnt take the swords away.
While I despise those who purvey illegal drugs, and their foolish lackeys too, most of them probably have some family and friends who are not involved in that society killing trade, and who remember their friend or loved one as they were before an unfortunate decision was made to join the ranks of the scumbags. For those who have not had it happen to one of yours; you don't stop caring about the person you used to know, you still mourn their death as you would that of a normal person. We could all show a little respect for the straight people left behind to pick up the pieces. Walk a mile in their shoes.
metalman.
Im sure Moxies loved that!!!
send a stronger message when dealing with those who are selling drugs. Start by locking them up and throwing away the keys. Right now the rewards for dealing outweigh the punishments.
While I do feel sorry for this other mother Diane Henry I can't help feeling angry that this woman has my maiden name. Last year I had recieved so many calls from some old school buddies whom thought that this was my child. This incident has disrupted my life somewhat as they thought I still smoked (like Clinton Did). I DO NOT! I on the other hand would have stepped in on my son's life and would have tried to make a difference. Even if I had to turn him in. He maybe would still be alive.I am not an enabler. If you do the crime, then do the time.Again my heart goes out to the mother, yet any mother who losses a child.Still angry that my maiden name has been dragged through the drug trade.
Just say no to drugs. Or as Nancy Reagan would say, "No thank you". Why not brainwash the little tots in daycare, then kindergarten, then elementary school and finally high school about all the evils of selling, marketing , making, and using said drugs? Lotsa examples everywhere. Might work. But you might have to find a more politically correct word more acceptable than "brainwashing".
