Father Knows Best...

They did it to us when they constructed a homeless shelter on 6th Ave in the old liquor store.

They did it to us when it came to the location of a new Casino in town.

They did it to us when it came to our input into the sale of BC Rail.

Low and behold, they are doing it to us once again, by announcing that a new shelter for the homeless will be built in the old Backpacker Motel location on Queensway. To hell with the people and the input from the neighborhood that has had to put up with prostitution moving on to their streets. Big Brother knows best and that’s the way it will be.

Now where are you people at City Hall?  Is it just lip service there as well? Oh to be sure we are supposed to hold a re-zoning public hearing. After all, the property is zoned for tourism. But is that just a formality, or is the Premier of the province just speaking through the side of his mouth?

Bear in mind the Mayor, who is a strong supporter of the Premier, was right on side with the sale of BC Rail. Are City Councilors (and the Mayor included) now going to listen to the concerns of the citizens but accept the pronouncements of the Premier?

It is simply another case of big brother telling us when, where and what, is good for us.

oh yeah old colin kinsley(sorry i missed the honorable part) has his snotbox (ie. nose) so far up old premeier gordy's behind that he has no clue where Gordy is driving. Message to Colin. Stand up and get some backbone, you were practically kissin gordys butt when they announced the 45 year plaan to give us a real highway.
well... all I can say is better here than my neighbourhood.

It's brutal but true.
What about the old city yard? Out of site and out of mind. Why destroy a neighborhood further. They pay taxes too.
take it easy boy's and girls,at the rate that our city council moves(imho)this shelter thing won't happen for years. But if we must talk about it,why don't we put a shelter in the old north nechako elementry school, just a stones throw from our ol mayor Colin in north meadow's
