Prince George, B.C. - A week from today, Prince George City Council will begin budget deliberations. Right now, city taxpayers are looking at a base increase of 3.4% simply to maintain existing services.
At Monday night's Committee of the Whole meeting, Manager of Financial Services, Sandra Stibrany, said there are a number of proposed project enhancements that council will have to consider. They include air quality improvement initiatives, transit expansion, and a request from PG Fire Rescue to hire more staff.
The total value of the enhancement requests so far is $680,000, but it will likely grow, as Stibrany says the list that council received Monday night is not yet complete.
Budget deliberations are scheduled to begin February 4th at City Hall.
