Volunteer Firefighters In Line for WCB Benefits

Cariboo Regional Area Director, Tim Pennell, says he is happy to see that volunteer fire fighters will be treated the same as full time members in qualifying for WCB  benefits for cancers related to fire fighting.

Pennell ,a former fire fighter himself, said the North Central Municipal Association, along with the Union of BC Municipalities, played a part in having the government add the volunteers.  "I believed from the beginning that if we stuck together we could have the volunteers included" said Pennell "and I’m pleased with the result."
