Prince George, B.C. - The New Democrats are holding nomination meetings in the city tonight as the party kicks off the its northern campaign for the upcoming provincial election.
The NDP will introduce its candidates for the Prince George-Mackenzie and Prince George-Valemount constituencies. Both are Prince George women and the party says both will be acclaimed.
Tobias Lawrence has worked in forestry for close to 20 years and currently acts as a land-based management and communications consultant. She is also a member of the Stand Up for the North coalition and is a director at large for the northern division of the BC Canadian Institute of Forestry.
Julie Carew has worked for 16 years at the College of New Caledonia campuses in Mackenzie and Prince George and is a former Mackenzie councilor. Carew also served for seven years as the National Secretary Treasurer for the Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada.
Opposition Leader Carole James is expected to address party faithful at the event, which will also feature appearances by NDP MLAs.
The rally is set to begin at 5 p.m.
