Valemount, B.C. - Two people are dead after a crash just inside the British Columbia/Alberta border this morning.

North District RCMP say two vehicles collided on Highway 16, 32 kilometres west of Jasper at approximately 10:30 a.m.  Sergeant Pat McTiernan with Fraser Fort George Traffic Services says information indicates that two passenger vehicles crashed in a t-bone collision, but he says the dynamics of the crash are still under investigation.

Five people were injured in the crash and all have been taken to hospital in Jasper for treatment.  Police say one of the vehicles was from B.C. while the other was from out of province.

The B.C. Coroners Service and Valemount Traffic Services Unit are investigating.

Highway 16 remains closed and there is no detour available.  Motorists are encouraged to check the DriveBC website for road conditions and updates.
