Prince George, B.C. - Police have confirmed that a bomb is behind the blast that destroyed a vehicle in South Fort George earlier this week.

The RCMP E Division Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to investigate after a car exploded shortly before 3 a.m. Wedesday on Lillooet Street, waking up the neighbourhood.  Constable Gary Godwin with the Prince George RCMP says investigators have determined that the explosion was a targeted attack.

Godwin says police are still trying to figure out why the car, owned by a 37-year-old Prince George man, was attacked.  He says investigators are still working on a motive and police will release more information as it becomes availabe.  RCMP stress that the public general public does not to be concerned due to the targeted nature of the bombing.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Prince George RCMP or Crimestoppers.

Wouldn't there have to be a known motive to determine that the attack was targeted?
I'm sure there is a motive, and everyone involve knows the motive. But why make it public knowledge.

98% chance it is about drugs, sex and money.

2% chance a jealous husband.
"RCMP stress that the public general public does not to be concerned due to the targeted nature of the bombing."

No, why would we be concerned about cars blowing up on residential streets ?

As long as they're not our cars, who cares ?

We don't need to be concerned about targeted break-ins, targeted beatings...but targeted shootings and bombings on city streets do concern us, and rightly so. They endanger us all.
I always find it interesting with targeted hits that the police always say the public should not be concerned. Flying bullets and shrapnel, ya I'm not concerned. Remember that little boy killed in Montreal when a jeep exploded.

We should be very concerned about lack of action by our government. Drugs is the biggest industry in BC. How far into the government and judicial system does drug influence extend? Just take a look at the ridiculous sentences druggies get in this province, makes one wonder. BC has 11 of Canada's most violent cities. The city of Nelson for example, I have read its biggest industry is grow ops and chemical production is increasing big time.

Remember the show NYPD, "be careful out there!!!"
Right, just a minor car blow up, nothing to worry about.
No reason to get all excited, take a deep breath.
These things happen all the time, nothing special.
"Godwin says police are still trying to figure out why the car, owned by a 37-year-old Prince George man, was attacked."

I'd guess the 37 year old man knows why, but he isn't saying.
