Seniors Facility Owner/Operator Selected

Prince George, B.C. - Northern Health has selected inSite Housing, Hospitality and Healthcare Services Inc. as the preferred proponent to own and operate the Gateway Residential Care Facility. The company was chosen from five teams that submitted proposals to own the facility and lease it back to Northern Health.
InSite will now enter into negotiations with Northern Health, a process which should result in a final project agreement later this spring. The $45 million community of care facility will provide 94 new residential care beds for seniors who need around-the-clock nursing care. It will also feature 81 additional seniors housing units, 50 of which will provide assisted living services for seniors who can be mostly independent with specialized housing, meals and health supports.
The remaining 31 units will be market rental units.
The 50 assisted living units will run through Independent Living BC, a housing-for-health program where tenants pay 70 per cent of their after-tax income for their units. Residents will receive two meals a day, weekly housekeeping and linen services, 24-hour emergency response, personal care services and recreational and social opportunities.
The facility is slated for completion in summer 2009.
