Prince George, B.C.- The woman who had made it to a neighbour's home in 100 Mile House to seek help after being shot, has died.
RCMP say shortly before 7 am this morning, RCMP members were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute on Cedar Avenue in 100 Mile House. Preliminary information at this time suggests that a woman arrived at a neighbour’s residence informing them that she had been shot.
Upon RCMP members’ attendance, a man allegedly exited the residence armed with a shotgun. An RCMP member discharged his service pistol at the man striking him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 56-year-old woman was transported to 100 Mile House District General Hospital where she was airlifted to Kamloops. She died en route to Royal Inland Hospital.
In addition to police resources currently investigating the police involved shooting, an independent investigation team will be attending 100 Mile House to investigate the death of the female victim.
The Commission for Public Complaints has been advised of the shooting death. They have invoked their Independent Observer and are currently on site to monitor the police investigation. As in all officer involved shootings, there will be an Independent Officer review that will look at all circumstances surrounding the incident and subsequent investigation.
Inspector Lorne Pike of the Delta Police Department will also be attending the scene to provide an independent oversight from a Municipal Police Agency.
The names of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
