Vanderhoof Mayor Len Fox has been putting up his Christmas lights and enjoying the sunshine today, unlike many of his political counterparts around the province...

Fox and, in fact, Vanderhoof's entire village council of six have been acclaimed for the second-straight election.  "I think that represents the fact that all council members are there for the right reasons, they work extremely well together, they're dedicated to the community and I think we've had a very good program in the last six years," says the Mayor.

The one-time provincial M.L.A. is entering his third term this time 'round, after serving four-terms in the 1980's.  As for his goals in the coming three-year term, "Our theme is to improve the community in a way that we can keep our seniors on the streets and our children off the streets and we've got a number of goals in order to try and achieve that."

Fox says council's number one objective will be to diversify Vanderhoof's economy to stay healthy in the post-beetle kill world.

He estimates the cost savings of not having to hold an election at 20-thousand dollars for the village and says he believes there's one other community in B.C. sharing the same good fortune, as voters also acclaimed the council in Radium Hot Springs.

As for how Vanderhoof residents are spending the day, "It's a very beautiful day, so people are out with their families enjoying the day and not having to worry about getting to the polls.

Oh for the residents of Prince George to have the admiration and respect for their Mayor and Council as Vanderhoof residents have for theirs!!!
How can that small village hold the Mayor and Council in such high esteem??
Probably due to the fact they perform well, and do an exemplary job.
I wonder if the Mayor and council members are enjoying their day in Prince George to the same degree????
I hardly think so!!!
