Pink has become the rallying colour for those who want to show they support anti bullying. The colour goes back to the story that started it all, of a fellow at a school in Nova Scotia who was bullied by other classmates because he was wearing a pink shirt. Two other male students then decided they too would wear pink shirts to show their support for their bullied school mate.
As a project in the Leadership class at College Heights Secondary, students developed different ideas on how to spread the word that bullying is not acceptable. Daniella Salazan developed a comic book which tells the original story and outlines why bullying is not acceptable.
College Heights Leadership class teacher, Cindy Smith, says students contacted every school in Prince George to see if they would be “on board” for today, “Even schools which require students to wear uniforms said their students were going to wear pink flagging tape today.”
