Just two of the vehicles that may be part of the  2009  Show 'n Shine
Prince George, B.C- The annual Father’s Day Show ‘n Shine Car show will be held at the Pine Centre Mall.
Marketing Manager for the Pine Centre Mall, Virginia Dekker, says the event will be held Sunday June 21st in the front parking lot to give the show maximum exposure.
This marks a change in location for the Cruisin’ Classics Car Club’s annual event.   It had been hosted in Downtown Prince George by the Downtown Business Improvement Association. That was cancelled this year because the DBIA doesn’t have the funding to support such an event.
Last year, the event drew about 20 thousand people downtown.
This is the third venue in the history of the Show ‘n Shine, it started out in the parking lot of Prince George Secondary School.
The show draws about 130 classic and specialized vehicles from all over BC and Western Canada.

Nice to know the Show and Shine will happen this year afterall.
There was comments that collecting the entry fee last year was a nightmare...this year could be all but impossible...
Hey Prince George, glad you decided on a venue for the show. We look forward to coming up from Quesnel to participate. It will be good at the mall, everything will work well. See you there!
Likely a place to avoid if one wanted to go shopping during the time of the show. With more parking speces removed from the lot, and potentially more people there to go to the show, parking might end up being difficult to find.

An interesting experiment.
Gus, all stores in downtown Kamloops are open when the the Kamloops Street Rod Assoc put on their "Hot Nite in the City" which is actually held during the day on a Saturday.

The streets are filled with people bringing a big boost to the buisiness's down town. People park a long ways away, walk and make a day of shopping and looking at some nice vehicles while they are at it.

If you don't like to walk a bit do your shopping on Saturday at the Pine Center.

I think it will be a great thing for the Mall and will attract a few more customers.
Pinecenter-1 P.G. Downtown-0 The downtown business group just lost a great attraction. I think you should get your heads out of your butts and try to smell the roses. Downtown just took another step backwards. Good on you Pinecenter!
Pine Centre is a great venue for this extremely popular event. Downtown's loss is Pine Centre's gain.
metalman.
My congratulations to the Show n Shine Classic Car Show for finding a suitable venue to showcase one of the city's best draws of the year... 20,000 last year FANTASTIC... If I was a business owner downtown I would strongly look at the organizers of the DBI. I think the DBI has put yet another nail in our downtown business core perhaps even the City Council should give thier heads a shake as well. I have always enjoyed taking my sons to the downtown core to look at the classics as a family tradition on Fathers Day...some how it wont be the same
Less chance of being panhandled at the mall too. I like that.
The Show and Shine is returning to where it began. The first ones were in the old Woolco parking lot at Pine Centre. Then the Show and Shine moved to the YMCA parking lot prior to its PGSS run. Downtown was a great location, but I believe Pine Centre will be excellent !
I agree - good move! Good exposure to those who "forgot" or didn't know the event was happening and are just passing by, easy to find, easy access, (you don't have to guess which of a dozen streets you should try for a parking spot, and then set up for a long walk), and a "carry" if you've got small children and all their gear, and I expect far better grouping of the cars so that its easy to see them all without backtracking several streets.

I am a regular at this event, and sometimes a participant with an entry, but I find it awkward to cover the event completely because the cars are scatterd over a such a large area, requiring some route planning, and considerable backtracking to see everything. While the walk is no big deal for me, and probably beneficial to my health, I'd hate to try retracing my steps in a wheelchair, or drag a couple of toddlers, stroller, umbrellas, bottles, raingear, etc. etc. all over the same route I took each year !

For me it's all fun, but for those who are not that interested, but just along because "Dad" or "Mom" is nuts about cars, the Pine Center is gonna be way more friendly to their interest too IMO, with all that shopping potential just a few feet away for the non "gear heads" that get dragged along to this event every year !

Smooth move Pine Center, you picked a winner this time.
I have no problem if there is a donation bin to toss some toonies in for the event. It is well worth it.
excellent move!!
