Terrace, B.C. –Terrace has been named the winner of this year’s Kraft Hockeyville competition. Terrace drew the most votes through online, text and phone ballots.

The win means Terrace will pick up the grand prize of $100,000 in arena upgrades from Kraft and will get to host an NHL pre-season game between the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Islanders on Monday September 14th.

B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell has offered his congratulations to Terrace for it’s win "On behalf of all British Columbians, I'd like to offer my congratulations to all of the residents of Terrace on being named Hockeyville 2009.

"Hockey is inextricably linked to Canadian and British Columbian culture, and the people of Terrace showed their community pride and enthusiasm in bringing in millions of votes from across the country to secure their win.

"Terrace rallied together to show the country why their community deserved to be Hockeyville and at the same time demonstrated the kind of spirit that makes the Northwest such an incredible part of our province.

"The whole city came together for the good-natured competition and as a result Terrace will host an NHL Pre-Season Game, a CBC Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, and get $100,000 towards the Terrace Sportsplex.
"Terrace is Hockeyville!"

Great news!!!!!!!
Congrats!
I wonder how long it will take Pat Bell and his master, Gordo, to turn this win for Terrace into a photo-op for the Libs. Perhaps Kraft will let them present the cheque on the new PG Airport runway. Oops, that runway photo-op has already been done. Anyway, good going Terrace and enjoy your NHL Hockey game but don't let Ticketmaster sell thetickets for you.
dunno Oldun...will they be around in Sept?? lol
Way to go guy's!
Can we be soccerville please?
Good on Terrace
Hockey?
Congrats Terrace! They worked really hard for this.

It'll be worth more than $100,000 when all the hotel rooms/meals and the like are counted in from the Sept. preseason game too.

Thats just really cool for you people in Terrace. Congratulations!
Campbell will try to take all of the credit....just wait and see.
Not if James gets there first!
Why are the politicians so proud of this ? IF they had been providing proper infrastructure spending this wouldn't be a priority of communities to go after such funding. To me it highlights the shortcomings of them.
Congratulations Terrace...great job!
You deserve this award!
(Gordo will let you know when he will be bringing your cheque, please have your camera's ready!)
This is something totally awesome happening for the town of Terrace and good for them! I would love to be in that arena to watch the Canucks mop the rink with the Islanders. I hope that all the brass flying in for the event don't soil their knickers when they see what they are flying into when it's time to land the planes. I think that being named Hockeyville is a win win win for Terrace.
