Prince George, B.C.- The University of Northern B.C. continues its search for a new President this week with the first round of interviews with the top ranked candidates.
“We have a very strong field of four candidates” says Interim President Dr. Charles Jago.
The search for a new President started last fall after the rapid departure of Dr. Don Cozzetto.  UNBC engaged the executive search firm of Caldwell Partners International to find suitable candidates.
A special selection committee has been actively working with Caldwell Partners throughout the process, including holding two town hall sessions to gather information from stakeholders on the vision and qualities the successful candidate should possess.
After this round of interviews, there will be time set for referencing and background checks, then a second round of interviews will be held in the week of March 23rd.
Dr. Jago expects to have a new President named, and a contract signed by late Spring.
It’s hoped the successful candidate will take on their new responsibilities this summer as Dr. Jago’s interim contract expires July 1st.  Dr. Jago is confident the new President will be on board by that time “I am confident we will be successful, and I look forward to being out of a job.”

There are very few men out there that has as much class as Charles Jago.

He helped this community by taking UNBC to the next level.
I wonder if I can still throw my hat into the ring?

How would you people feel about addressing me as "Dr. beesknees" or "President Dr. beesknees"?

Oh, wait, I see they do background checks. Nix that. I don't want them exposing any skeletons in my closet. Or finding furballs under my bed. I would lose the respect of the many people who worship my opinions.

I won't be running for this position.
Don't worry, the background checks last time didn't reveal the guy they were about to hire would not be suitable in the long term and then you can get a 500,000 severance package.

I believe this time they are doing more extensive background checking.
Have things changed yet or is the new president going to beable to sign a 3 year contract then walk after 1 and still collect a golden parachute?
I would think that is still negotiable to some degree.

It would depend how badly the selected candidate wants the job and how badly UNBC wants the candidate.
They have not contacted me, yet. All I want is the severance package please. If it is given to me, I promise to stimulate the economy for a few months.
metalman.
I won't be surprised if Don, the past UNBC president knew some secrets in UNBC and they gave him the severance package to keep his mouth shut, before going down to US.

During Jago's 1st term in UNBC, UNBC expanded, but during his second term which ended in 2006, UNBC stagnated and mismanagement and discrimination spread like wild fire after hiring and keeping those like Dr W. McGill in UNBC. The UNBC candidates must read the Oct 2003 UNBC collegiality report, available from UNBC FA page, and the 2007 report ordered by Don pointing to different aspects of discrimination and mismangment in UNBC.

Jago should have become Jagone in 2005 and it was a mistake by the board to extend his term for another year in 2005, which maintained the rule of lawlessness and mismanagment in UNBC's small town. It was yet another mistake by the board to bring Jago back for another year in last July. Now we are in 2009 and Jago who was supposed to leave in 2005 after his 2nd term is still in power. This reminds me of Putin hanging to power in Russia for a 3rd term.

Jago, GO GO ....

Now the new UNBC provost Dr Mark Dale who thinks he is the new sharif in town is fully train[t]ed under Jago's watch in maintaning past discriminatory policies in UNBC. Whoever comes should either correct the past mistakes in UNBC and put a proper government free of discrimination in UNBC, or mount his good bad ugly horse in the dawn and follow Don as our Don went down, down and down.
