Failure to File = Big Fat Fine

Prince George B.C.- Two candidates for the last municipal election are facing fines of $500 dollars for failing to file their election expense documents on time.

Dane Greenwell, the teen who ran for the Prince George Mayor’s chair, and Brad Gibbons who tried to win a seat on Prince George City Council, failed to meet the Monday 5 p.m. deadline for submitting their contribution/expense documents.

Under the Municipal election rules, a fine of $500 is to be imposed.

Prince George Chief Election Officer, Wendy Nordin says she would like to contact each of them privately to discuss the matter, but as of 4:30 yesterday had not yet connected with the two.

Like I asked previously, but didn't get a reply-why and who? wants to know.Is this anyones business who gave you money and how much you spent on your own? It looks like the more you have to spend, the better your chances....

Maybe they lost the file they had to file. Some people are disorganized.

They could have just handed in something.

Then again, maybe they got zero dollars in and spent zero dollars and thought they only had to file if there were donations and expenses to account for.

Maybe they are testing the system.

Wonder if the fines become part of their election expenses. After all, if it was not for them running, they would not have been fined.

Why don't they go down to the local hardware store and get the Election Officer a couple of flat files.

Hey Catfood it's good to have transparency. Otherwise, we start having corrupt Governments. This is a way to keep them honest even though some people think politions aren't honest.

If we didn't have this transparency we would have insiders getting contracts for doing nothing or giving their own companies fat contracts/kickbacks.

We also want to make sure that people engaged in illegal activities(drugs/violence) types aren't financing politions. Would you vote for someone who is being funded by the Skinheads of America.......

Need I say more?
