Prince George, B.C.- Students at the College of New Caledonia have voted 88% in favour of issuing a Universal Bus Pass (U‐PASS) to all students, in partnership with BC Transit and the City of Prince George.
Starting in September 2009, all part‐time and full‐time CNC students will become U‐PASS holders.
“We are pleased that students have embraced transit in Prince George,” said Manuel Achadinha, President & CEO of BC Transit. “Our commitment to provide effective and efficient service to our customers is proving successful with increased numbers in ridership.”
Along with unlimited access to transit, U‐PASS holders will have the use of the Prince George Aquatic Centre, and the Four Seasons Pool.
Students at UNBC are already U-Pass holders.
Contract negotiations between the City of Prince George, BC Transit and the CNC Student Union will start soon to deal with issues such as fee collection and general logistics

Getting an education shouldn't be about socialism... some people that just want an education can't afford that. Why should a person struggling to maintain their own transportation because of where they live, work, or have to commute... why should they also have to pay for someone else's bus services.... Its socialism and it has no place in the essential service of education. Its to the point now where forced fees cost more than tuition in some cases... paying double for an education so career students can experiment with socialism... then they join the real world loaded with debt.
