First time in a while I seen pot spelled with an H. The writer must've been indoctrinated with the movie "Reefer Madness". Good movie!
Harbinger, I love your posts! I appreciate your humour. Keep it up!! Comedians always show the funny side of what people do everyday. Careful with the "H" word....lol
It is simply the latin pronounciation of the letter J. Marry-Huh-wana
Or, it could simply be a spelling error.
metalman.
Nope, seen it in another blog site with the H.
Another sample of our fine educational system, hooked on phonics! No wonder the teachers don't want to invigilate the provincial high school exams.... not very flattering.
Mary Wanna ? or Merry Huana ?
Zzzzzzzzzzzz..... another waste of taxpayer funds.

Legalize so the RCMP can deal with real crime.

Grow ops with a thousand plants ARE a real crime. More importantly, they are operated by real criminals, part of organizations who assault and kill people in order to protect their interests. Pot is NEVER going to be legal to grow at such a scale in Canada. Even if we wanted to legalize posession, our neighbours are never going to, and legalizing grow ops here would shut down our borders. Besides, our gangs would just switch to other drugs no one is thinking of legalizing.
Good work by the RCMP. WHether one agrees with the law or not, i cant see supporting people who flout it at such a scale.
I agree with you caranmacil
organized crime will keep finding things to market - with good profits. Do we keep legalizing everything they get into so they will no longer be criminals? Where do you draw the line. They are always going to find something illegal to profit on. They are CRIMINALS! They are not law abiding citizens. If not pot then other drugs, extortion.......the list goes on.

I agree with Cara and wini but what is the alternative? Rub out criminal gangs?, as fast as you wipe one out, another will take it's place anyway. As kevin1006 says, pot should be legalized.

grow ops are criminal only because the government legislated it.
They could just as easily legislate it back to not being illegal.
They will not!
Then the RCMP would have to investigate real crimes like murder, property crimes, gangsterism and traffic violations.

Somebody, most likely many somebodies at the top, is making boatloads of money on this illegal commodity. If it were legalized then they would have to share profits.
I don't think legalizing pot would make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. It isn't the guy smoking a joint on the weekend that is the big deal, it's the large scale production which enables it to be used as a currency in exchange for guns, hard drugs and other illicit products.

Legalizing it would not stamp out this side of the trade because there is no way that the gangs could acquire that amount of pot through legal sources and still exchange it for the other products. An "underground" market would always need to be available and as such, large scale grow ops would still be around. I have no idea what the numbers are, but I'd guess that the "personal use" portion of BC grown pot isn't even worth worrying about when compared to what gets shipped outside of our borders and/or exchanged for other illegal goods.
