Your water rates are going up.

Prince George City Council has approved a 5% increase in water rates for residential customers.  That means  another $9.64 cents added to your bill, so  while you used to pay $192.72, the new  rate is $202.36

As for commercial customers, the city has boosted their rate by 4%, or about  $50.00 per customer.

Councilor Don Zurowski wanted to point out the majority of the increase is to cover the improvements made to delivering water to the Hart.

Just the beginning.
Hang onto your wallets.
Take the poison out of it and it would be cheaper!
Hey, bring on those water meters the city is pushing then they can make more money. The up side would be that those who washed their driveways would pay more for it.
Sure would be nice if our wages would go up to cover all the tax increases.
Interesting to see how many still get water delivered these days. I get mine out of a tap.

;-)
All kidding aside.

Ideally, the situation should be such that infrastructure should be built for the capacity of the area it serves and the cost of that infrastructure should be borne by the area served.

Thus, the cost of this should be borne by the sale of properties in the area in the first place and by a surcharge on properties should the improvement be made after most of the subdivision has been occupied after that.

After all, why is this any different than surcharges for putting in storm sewers, curb and gutter and pavement in a previous rural type subdivision which has agreed to getting a sewer and road upgrade?
