Did the Canucks win last night, I forgot to check.
nope lost 6-5 in a shootout.
They flamed out then......
No torch light parade for them, eh?
I hear it is number 382
Pretty important thing, this olympic torch.
I now see lottery money is going to support the olympics. This money could be far better spent on health care in BC rather than giving it to Vanoc to have a 2 week party in Vancouver that will not benefit the majority of BC residents.
Seems we were told the olympics would not cost the taxpayers in BC. Reminds me of Drapeau's statements in regards to Expo 67.
The torch is really two things. (1) a fancy vacum cleaner that will suck up your money and (2) a club to hit us over the head driving us senseless into believing that the olympics are good for BC and won't push the province into bankruptcy
The torch is in town ehh? Who cares? Thanks for the score of the game last night, I was just going to check.
Let all the Lemmings join the parade!
Ah Yes. The running of the Olympic Torch relay.

Where did it start?

Doctor Carl Diem. He was responsible for running the infamous 1936 Berlin games AKA The Nazi Games and it was he, in fact, who devised the whole torch bearing scheme.

He sold to Josef Goebbels - in charge of media coverage of the Games - the idea that 3422 young Aryan runners should carry burning torches along the 3422km route from the Temple of Hera on Mount Olympus to the stadium in Berlin.

Just a bit of history to ponder!
There is no doubt that Goebbels understood mass marketing ..... if only he had just been marketing cars
