They take it all back.

Liberal House Leader Mike de Jong has withdrawn Bill 17, saying it no longer has the unanimous support it had last week.

Last week all MLA's in the Legislature , Liberal and NDP alike, rose to give their unanimous approval to a bill that would boost their salaries by at least 15%  and returned some healthy pensions for  MLA's.

The public outcry over the weekend was so loud, NDP Leader Carole James took a double take and flipped her stance. Advising the Premier to hold public discussion on the matter before it would be passed.

The Liberal Caucus met earlier today, and surprise...deJong made the announcement in the House.

Does the old adage "Run it up the flagpole and see who salutes" apply here. Methinks it does. Being a cynic I wouldn't be surprised to see a smaller increase re-introduced now that we are softened up for an increase.
Ask for real outrageous raise increases and come back with half of what you ask for and you will most likely get it. Just like gas 99.9, why not just say $1.00, sounds cheaper right?
It's kind of comforting to know they don't feel they have that kind of arbitrary control over our money!
