Prince George, B.C. - Council for the City of Prince George has been presented with the list of 40 committees and some may be obsolete.
So in order to examine whether the committees are all valid, or redundant, there  has been a call for a  review of the committees and their terms of reference. It has been about ten years since this kind of review has been done.
You guessed it,  they’re looking at creating  a committee to examine the validity of all the committees.
First though, the idea of this review has been passed over to Administration to look at the terms of reference for the committee review committee and to estimate  workload and time lines for the work .

maybe they should ahve a study to see if they need to create a committe to study if other committes are committees???
As they say with bureaucrats: you can hire one to fire two, and you lose nothing.
"...they’re looking at creating a committee to examine the validity of all the committees."

How about studying the possibility of initiating a study to study whether or not the actual implementations of recommendations of previous studies need further studies since the prospect of future studies may be dependent on studies that were previously sent to committees to study whether more studies are needed to study the relationship between committees and studies as far as committing to studies that were studied by committees versus studies that were never studied by committees. A study may show that studies that were previously sent to committees were in fact sent to redundant committees which had not met for the last ten years and the demise of which was not known to anyone since a committee that was empowered to study a possible verification of actual committee existence had been disbanded some years ago according to the recommendations of a committee study.

The spin doctors are fully employed and busy spinning!

Somehow it is reminiscent of Monty Pythons Ministry of Silly Walks!

Great comedy stuff! Somebody should send this to Jay Leno's Tonight Show!

There is no single person at City Hall that can make a decision and take responsibility for its outcome.

I think a committee is completely inadequate to make a decision in such cases.

It needs to go to a final arbitrating decision making body .... the voters.

We all know how good the decisions are that the voters in this city make.

As some people are starting to say, democracy is dying, and we saw it as it happened.
just bring the head of each committee front and center and ask each one of them if their job is done or when will it be done and than ask each committee chair for a writen progress report each month. If their is no progress for several months must be that they are done or are not qualified to complete their mission and it would be time to start knew.
Fetterly for mayor!!!
I think Gus said it best. If a decision ever rests with a person as opposed to an entity, expect no decision.
Who wants to be responsible for making a decision? If it is right, it is expected of you. If it is wrong, you never hear the end of it. So why bother? Everyone has to check with some one else. It is written.
and what about those %$##$% potholes!!!???

Just kidding, sometimes ridiculous humor is all we have in the face of exasperation. Hopefully the report all these comittees generate is understandable and has a point.
If you laid every one in a committee end to end, they still wouldn't reach a conclusion.
I think we should just sublet it to diplomat.
I would scrap all the committees, ban the word *committee* from City Hall and institute new and tight rules for working groups.

To get something done a committee should consist of no more than 3 people, two of whom are absent.
John Kenneth Galbraith
I think they should slow right down, study this carefully, strike a sub-committee, and stop making such drastic knee-jerk reactions.
"I would scrap all the committees, ban the word *committee* from City Hall and institute new and tight rules for working groups."

You're never going to get the contract now.
A camel is a horse designed by a committee.
Disallow "steering" committees first. They're the worst.
"If you laid every one in a committee end to end, they still wouldn't reach a conclusion."

"A camel is a horse designed by a committee."

Harb, one more and you get a hat trick.

Too funny !
