VICTORIA - Members of the British Columbia Nurses' Union (BCNU) have voted 96 per cent in favour of a two-year extension of their current collective agreement
The agreement falls in line with the government's broader fiscal framework and the projected health care budget increases over the next two years.
The deal represents an overall funding increase of approximately $60 million in 2010-11 and $65 million for 2011-12. In lieu of general wage increases, nurses will receive a labour market adjustment of approximately three per cent per year to allow B.C. to remain competitive in recruiting and retaining nursing staff.
