There were election signs up on Monday the 13th at many spots around town against city bylaw.

Seems like people still don't know the laws of the community even after someone jumped the gun during the municipal elections as well.

As you say, the campaign does not even start at midnight. It starts when the premier visits the Lieutenant Governor for a little chat.
Oh Lord; give me the strength to get through all this B.S.!Please help me retain my sanity (or whats left of it)! AMEN!!!
Denaljo, Amen to that!!!
Well this campaign is off to the races.

Besides the fact that it's all the 'other' parties can do to even get a mention as alternatives, then there is this story which needs a little cleaning.

At 6:30am I may have dragged Ben out of bed, but...

Marvin Talbot has been unable to continue to seek election due to economics of campaigning. He is listed here as running in Prince George McKenzie for 'REFORM'. Sorry. That should have been BC Refederation which does seek some very substantial reforms, but pick pick pick... We are BC refederation.

I am running in Nechako Lakes and I am the party leader of BC Refederation. I am one of those upstarts who isn't happy with any of the other choices and wants to screw up politics for politicians before MS takes me out completely.

Our other candidate not mentioned at all, is Don Roberts, and he is carrying the BC Refed banner in Prince George/Valemount.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would like to see the other parties at least mentioned and their responses to Liberal/NDP platforms sought out.
Ditto!!!
oops I mean "Ditto Denaljo!!"

My computer is showing many repeats. I got them from refreshing several times. I did not repost.
Three votes for Mike Summers by Mike summers already .......
Yes you did. The computer does not lie. Every time you refresh at the wrong time you reposts.....
When you refresh Mike its like posting. I always hit home and then come back to the post. :} Have a nice day
Mike Summers has an echo in here!
I just came back from 3 days in Victoria and 5 days in Nanaimo and believe me,they are in election mode amd have been for a while!
Unfortunately...nobody seems to give a damn much and life goes on in lotus land.
About the only thing positve that I could establish was that most people I spoke to said they were going to vote for sure.
Even met a few of them who said they didn't usually bother but they would this time.
That is a good thing!
Only time will tell I guess, but one of the interesting things was that in every case,Gordon Campbell is NOT a popular man!
Whoa...is he disliked or what?
The second most unpopular man down there with Victoria people?
The legislative reporter Keith Baldry...now what's up with that?
It seems the consensus with the people I talked to think he works for the Liberals?
Who would have thought?
Did ya see a flower while on your trip, Andy? Tell me true, for as of yesterday we have between 3 and 4 feet of snow at the home place and I fear it will be some time before we see any wildflowers.
metalman.
I did...I did see flowers metalman!
Many, many flowers, but they tell me they are behind in the weather like the rest of B.C.
Hard to tell that though...we had between 17 and 19 degrees for 3 days in a row!
Birds,flowers,sidewalk cafes,no wind,and not a trace of snow!
The homeless people were out in droves and dancing in the streets!
And then we came home....
Sigh....
Isn't that the greatest thing about taking a trip: enjoying warm weather, sunshine, the beauty of nature and most of all taking the opportunity to take a vacation from politics, just for a few days?
I really do not know who to vote for. :{ I have one tulip popping its head out in the bed right beside the house. 2 feet from the house is still 2 feet of snow. *lol
I have one daffodil poking it's little head up,surrounded by 3 feet of snow!
Tough plant!
Strolled by the parliment buildings in the sunshine diplomat, and my wife gave me that evil look...so I decided not to throw anything!
My wife scares me more than he does!!
Life is good!
;-)
I think that during times of turbulence and economic distress, is not a time for wholesale political change.
I think the most stability is to be had by staying the course with a government that is at least functioning properly at the basic levels.
AF: "Strolled by the parliment buildings in the sunshine diplomat, and my wife gave me that evil look...so I decided not to throw anything!"

Funny! Last time I took a stroll there was in 1998 - I wanted to stay long enough to take a tour but I was outnumbered and
overruled!

Democracy in action.

BTW: the many homeless people I saw then must be the same ones you saw just now! Some staying power! Looks like they are still doing what they like to do best!

;)-
Did a tour of the parliment buildings a few years ago diplomat, and it is something we all should do at least once!
What a beautiful old building and meticulously maintained!
Victoria has a huge homeless problem and they all seem congregate right downtown. Many sleep in Beacon Hill park which is also worth a walk through, and even there you get panhandled.
It really doesn't do much for tourism either, as many of them are very agressive.
Seems it is time they did something about it, but what?
I got the feeling they were having a great time and were there because they wanted to be there, not just because of circumstances!
That is disturbing in itself.
Do we make it too easy for them?
AF: "Do we make it too easy for them?"

I don't know! The only way to find out once and for all is to build a basic clean living unit for each of them. If some of them don't want to move in and prefer to roam instead we don't have to wring our hands and feel guilty anymore!

GREAT OPPORTUNITY for Western Canada. For the first time in a very long time Sask, Alberta and BC are in sync with conservative governments which have proven to be very good for almost all its people. It is also great that the BC Liberal party has a very good working relationship with the Feds which also helps us all.

I know there are lots of unions friends out there but remember union jobs comes from mills, mining, and forestry companies that prosper. As for those that require social assistance remember that it takes taxes and taxes comes from small, medium and large business and business works under a conservative type government and for BC that is the BC Liberals.

Saskatchewan has proved that under a conservative government a province can go from welfare state to leading the country with jobs and social programs.

Also hats off to Pat Bell http://www.patbell.net and Shirley Bond http://www.shirleybond.com for there massive help here in Prince George and central interior.
Free Enterprize.... nice campain ad!
Not hard to figure out who YOU work for!
Does Gordo pay well?
Many Prince George - Omineca people will remember Paul Nettleton, who was BC Liberal M.L.A. when they were in Opposition. Nettleton was re-elected in 2001 to become a member of Campbell's government.

Nettleton, as BC Rail critic, saw both sides of the I will sell BC Rail promise (electoral defeat), the I will NOT sell BC Rail promise (electoral landslide), then the final I will sell BC Rail decision.

My web-site (The Legislature Raids), is focused entirely on BC Rail: what happened to it, how did it happen, and if that deal was entirely legal why is it still secret after almost 5 years?

Paul Nettleton, at my request, has a few things to say about that. The story is at:http://bctrialofbasi-virk.blogspot.com.

Question: can anyone tell me about a proposal BC Rail Trainmen made in 2001 or 2002 ... an effort to save BC Rail ... I have heard that they made a P3 proposal to take over the railway? Anybody know about that? I'd love to hear more it. All you do is click on the "Comment" button under each story ... pretty much like this Opinion 250 format. OK?

.

Yes, BC Mary is right on the BCR.

Nettleton saw that and a whole bunch more.

But wasn't it only after being passed over as a cabinet minister and then passed over again as speaker that Paul sure showed them and blew the whistle on Campbell and Co.'s little plan to give away Hydro to one or more of his corporate buddies?

Free E says that Campbell's getting rid of assets which citizens have paid so dearly for is wonderful.

At a time where we are fighting a world economy in a tailspin, a 15% export tariff that NOT ONE BC MLA FOUGHT AGAINST, Pat Bell says it's a good thing that we export raw logs. (Of course we export jobs too...but oh well) When I went down to the Island last Oct, I had the pleasure of sitting with Pat Bell on the plane. That was the most fun I have had in a very long time. And made me even happier to belong to BC Refed instead of the BC Liberals.

All I want out of politics is absolute "CONTROL" of politicians and the political processes. That is called DEMOCRACY, and that's NOT accountability as other candidates offer up.

Nothing extreme...unless you are a politician.
