Prince George, B.C.- The RCMP are still trying to piece together the time leading up to when 44 year old Vernon Baker was stabbed Saturday morning.

He had arrived at a home in the 2300 block of Victoria Street around 6:30 a.m., asking for help because he had been stabbed. Emergency personnel responded and Baker was taken to hospital, but later succumbed to the injury.

Baker had been spotted about two hours earlier, walking in the area of the First Litre Pub on Strathcona.

Constable Gary Godwin says while this death has been labelled a homicide, police are not yet calling it a murder “It is too early in the investigation , and we hope people will let us know if , where and when they last saw Baker.”

Police are hoping to hear from anyone who  has information about Baker's whereabouts between the hours of 5:00 a.m.  and 6:30 a.m Saturday.    He was  about 5'11' and 180lbs and was wearing , black pants, white t-shirt, with a white polo shirt over that and a grey "athletic" type jacket (no hoodie) with white "piping" on the sleeves, black socks, black and white runners.

Godwin has confirmed Baker was “known to police” but says it is too early in the investigation to say if this stabbing was gang related.

whats the difference between homicide and murder? is that how people get off on a technicality?!?!
I think it has something to do with if it was planned or not. Maybe just randome. I do not know this for sure so please excuse me if I am wrong.
FYI
Homicide only means the person died at the hands of another.

How that death came about is another matter. Was it accidental, was it self defence, was it planned? That is the difference.

The police found a sword in the hudson's bay slough but too early to tell if it's related.

Another Baker, a relation to the deceased was recently sentenced to considerable time in prison (in the citizen). And, yes I do know it's a relation.

Give me crapola for blaming the victim, but the criminal lifestyle certainly plays a role in these sad and violent situations.
