Water creeps over the old Cariboo Highway  on the east side of the airport lands,  the  white line marking the right shoulder of the road is visible under the water.

Prince George, B.C.- The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George continues to operate its Emergency Operations Centre at a level one in response to localized flooding around Prince George.

The flooding is occurring mainly in ditches and creeks in a number of areas including:

  • Salmon Valley
  • Pineview
  • Mud River,
  • Red Rock
    Beaverly
    West Lake

Residents in those areas are advised to contact the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George at (250)960-4401 in the event that their home is threatened by flooding.

The Regional District is also reminding residents to be cautious of flooded areas. The levels of water in the ditches and creek can fluctuate quickly. There may also be fast flowing under currents as water moves through culverts, making it unsafe for children. Parents are asked to ensure children stay a safe distance away from  creeks, ditches and culverts.

The flooding has resulted in a number of road closures throughout the Prince George region. The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is working with the Ministry of Transportation to help facilitate assessment and response to problem areas.

As a kid I love to play in the water. This would be a awesome play ground. Well, first what I use to do, was do a bit of research and find out where the water wants to go, then go down to that point and start removing obstacles which constricts flow. than work upstream, going back and forth until it is flowing good.

Of course that is childs play, its not the way grown ups would solve the problem. They start at the puddle.
