Quesnel- Quesnel City taxes will see no increase this year. The municipal portion of taxes in Quesnel will remain the same.

Council will keep with the same formula that was used last year to define this year’s tax rates. As a result, residents will see no increase to the municipal portion of their property taxes this year.

Council also endorsed a strategy of shifting one full percentage of taxation away from industrial taxpayers to residential taxpayers each year, starting in 2010 and running through 2013.

This decision stems from a requirement from the provincial government that requires municipalities to outline their long-term taxation strategies.

would it be possible to have the Quesnel city council advise PG city council?
It seems to me that even though they are a much smaller town, they still are impacted by the same needs yet are able to hold the line on tax increases while our city council takes the easy way out and just demands more from its citizens.

If you want economic recovery, you have to leave more discretionary funds available for consumers to circulate in the economy. Less discretionary funds equals less economic activity.
I think PG city council is on the same cloud as Gordo Camphill, the province is booming, I guess PG is also, lots of money to spend
Happy for you Quesnel, enjoy while it lasts.:)
Good for Quesnel and I also see they are going to get some new paving!
Bonus!
I wonder if they fix potholes there?
Wait until next year when the city starts screwing around with increased fees for their garbage pickup. Happened here. Why not there?
Wonder how long it takes to make up the differences in taxes the first time someone from Quesnel drives up to PG to take in a Cougars game, go to a concert, do some shopping, etc?

I'm sure that will please the folks in Quesnel starting in 2010 . . .
