Prince George, B.C.- After tomorrow, the Cadillac Ranch is no more.
Ring Holdings owner, John Van Oord says he made his case to Prince George City Council Monday in a closed door session and Council did not change its mind. “They wouldn’t give me an extension” says Van Oord.
The City had served notice at the beginning of April that it was terminating its lease with the operators of the Cadillac Ranch effective April 30th. The night club had become under scrutiny following allegations some employees were involved in the drug trade.
The Cadillac Ranch was being operated for the Van Oord’s who were living in Alberta. John says the nightclub provided he and his wife Ivy with a fairly good income “Not any more, with no location I don’t have a liquor license, and with no liquor license, I have no business and no income, I have nothing”.
When asked if he would be following other legal avenues against the City, Van Oord would only say “No comment.”
Mayor Dan Rogers says Council heard Van Oord’s case “Council understands the gravity of its decision, but it opted not to change its previous decision about terminating the lease.” Mayor Rogers says there has been no discussion on developing any new lease.
