Prince George, B.C.- A single vehicle crash on the Old Cariboo Highway at Cummings Road has claimed the life of a Prince George male.

Police say just before 2 Saturday morning Prince George emergency personnel responded to a call of single vehicle crash on the Old Cariboo Highway. When they arrived, they found one male trapped inside the car, pinned in the driver's seat. The male had succumbed to the injuries he had sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was not wearing his seat belt when the vehicle left the road.

A second male, who was identified as a passenger in the vehicle when the crash occurred, was able to climb out of the car, attend a nearby home and call for emergency help.
Names have not been released.

The vehicle was westbound on Cummings Road, turning right onto the Old Cariboo Highway, when the crash occurred. The vehicle travelled wide and drove off the southbound shoulder of the Old Cariboo Highway. The vehicle appears to have rolled one and half times, before coming to rest on the driver's side.

The preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this crash.

The weather provided for clear, cool skies and dry road conditions.

The Prince George Integrated Provincial Traffic Services Unit continue to investigate this collision with the B.C. Coroner's Service. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or with any information that may help police in their investigation is asked to contact the Prince George Integrated Provincial Traffic Services Unit at (250) 649-4004.

At least this time no photos of the carnage it just that we don't have any?
and they want drinking at the CN Centre!
Where in the article does it say anything about the CN center?
Its sad that yet another family has to go through this. When will people learn?
Didn't he see the new advance stop sign notice? The three roads that cross the Old Cariboo have them now. I guess we need MORE signs warning the advance warning signs!!
Come on people! How about a little compassion here!
My sincerest condolences to the family.
Darwin award winner like any other DUI!
He did make his own decision to drive after consuming alcohol.

It is a sad day for his friends and family and our thoughts go to them.
Yeah, a little compassion is in order. It is true that the driver was impaired ( a friend of the survivor told me) it is such a shame that the booze clouds your thinking and reaction time, and most of all, your judgement, as in: should I be driving in this condition?
metalman.
"He did make his own decision to drive after consuming alcohol."

Let me see. Alcohol affects you motor skills. Alcohol affects your cognitive skills.

The only decision that the individual made while he was not impaired in making decisions was to drink alcohol while he had access to a vehicle.

He should have been smart enough to predict that he could get drunk and that he could end up driving the vehicle.

What does one do when around an impaired person who cannot walk, or talk, or see, properly? Does helping them cope under those conditions come to mind?

There are others that could have made a difference I would think, perhaps including the passenger if he was not to drunk himself.
I really don't care how drunk you are, that is no excuse. He was cognizant enough to insert key into ignition and drive many miles out of city limits.
Darwin wins again.
I realize you do not care. That is not the point.

Whether someone has the capacity to make a rational decision is not a matter of opinion, unless it is expert opinion.

It is a matter of fact that can be show, to be likely true or likely false.
I don't think he was driving. I think it was manslaughter by vehicular homicide covered up after the fact.
