Gas Jumps

Prince George, B.C.- Just as  crocus and  tulips  are coming up around the City, so is the price of gas. Just yesterday it was 92.9  cents a litre, and today  it  climbed a full 6 cents!

According to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Gas Gouge meter, that is 9.1 cents a litre too high.

"Your gas prices are 9.1¢ per litre above the normalized cost of 89.3¢ per litre in Prince George. With today's crude oil price of $56.35 USD per barrel and the US dollar at $1.17 CAD, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in Prince George should be 89.3¢ per litre at normal profit margins. At a price of 98.9¢ per litre, you are paying 9.1¢ per litre in pure excess profit. Across Canada, an extra margin of 9.1¢ per litre generates an additional profit of 9.1 million dollars per day."

Tis the season for price gouging again. Crude is currently 56 per barrel. Imagine the price if it hits 140 per barrel again. We'll be looking at 2-3 dollars per liter. It's time we had some price control over our natural resources. I read a story about the price in the U.S. it inches up 2 cents a gallon not 6 cents a liter like it did here.
Just looked at bcgasprices.com. Kamloops and Kelowna also have gone up primarily to 98.9c/l. Coincidence? Just our friendly neighborhood big oil companies getting a jump on Victoria Day weekend. You know, profits are down in the low billions and shareholders need to be kept happy.

I hope nobody expected gas to stay at the same price all summer. That would be like expecting the Fraser River to run backwards.

Just awaiting the comments from MJ Ervin stating something about price rising, refinery capacity, blah, blah.
Isn't it a great world.

Workers are taking pay cuts, led by the auto workers that build the gas eating machines. But then more price increases will be required to maintain profits as people stay home due to lack of money!

Food prices are climbing allowing higher profits for the grocery chains. Any thoughts on rising pork prices? World pork prices are down because of the flu. The beef BSE problem saw beef prices rise so that everyone except the farmer and consumer made out OK.

Maybe someone should ask if there is actually any competition in Canada. Isn't that how it is supposed to work? If you don't take this pay cut and work longer hours, I can find someone else who will?

Gas up for no known reason, you ask, no one has the slightest idea why. But as stated above, the long weekend is coming up. Oil companies don't know how many travelers there might be so they just jack prices up anyway. There is no shortage and no demand right now so they can't use that excuse either. It's just a plain and simple money grab and greed by oil companies. They raise prices because they can and what are we going to do about it? Nothing. Government sits back and let it happen, price gouging? No such thing.
My conclusion on this subject is that it doesn't matter what happens, people will complain. Next topic please :)
Didn't a bunch of people on this site "guarantee" gas prices would hit two bucks a litre last summer?
You know who you are.
Fess up!
When gas hit $ 1.50/litre people started looking for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles and even hybrids. They pollute less and produce less carbon emissions.

That's the way to pay less carbon tax.

As soon as the price of gas drops its back to the old gas guzzlers. Those who drive them pay more carbon tax. Fair enough. It's the buyer who decides what the vehicle manufacturers spend research money on and what they produce.

What is better in the long run? Cheap gas or expensive gas?

NMG, right on!
The long week end cometh.

SAVE 26 CENTS PER LITER AT THE PUMP & CUT POLLUTION BY 90%

Thirty-seven years ago during the 1973 Oil Crisis we developed a liquid fuel conditioner. We call it MPG50. When added to gasoline or diesel fuel, it provides many benefits including a gas mileage boost of 25% to 50% and a reduction up to 90% in vehicle exhaust pollution.

It is extremely cost-effective and widespread use of MPG50 can cut Australian dependence on foreign oil by 35%. When you reduce the demand for oil, the price also typically drops.

See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSQh4zQcThc

A $25 bottle of MPG50 saves 25% to 50% at the pump and treats 605 liters. So with gas prices at 1.05 cents per liter, MPG50 can save you at least 26 cents per liter, which gives you $157.30 in gas or diesel fuel savings for $25 - a nice bargain.

MPG50 also works well in gasoline & diesel powered marine engines, as well as locomotives. It also extends the effective range of military vehicles by 25%.

Our MPG50 Affiliate Plan can also give Canada a multi-million dollar economic stimulus package which can immediately put millions of citizens to work with no increase in the Federal deficit. As an Affiliate, one can make a good living wage & there is no cost for the business (Simply agree to buy one bottle of MPG50/month to qualify for commissions). See http://MPG50.com

There's not much that one citizen can do about the price of gas at the pump, but a team of Patriots working together can accomplish much. When the sales volume justifies it, we can also manufacture our energy products in Canada, thereby providing jobs.

Sorry, your Fuel Additive = Snake Oil, why does anyone buy this stuff, many Shows done on CBC and it proves no increase in Mileage and one more thing I don't believe in Perpetual Motion. Have a nice Day and if you have the Money buy a smaller Car !
But don't give up your currently unpopular vehicle of choice just to go along with the crowd and save the planet by purchasing a new wonderbucket on wheels. As far as I can tell, it still takes a lot of energy, and resources from the earth, to build ANY new car, even the much vaunted hybrid.

300hp + or I ain't interested.
Right on , have one with 275 Hp and one with
120 HP and wont ever buy a hybrid, check out what it will cost to replace the Batteries ?
Check out this site if you want to know more about the baloney we're having shoved down our throats daily with regards to oil prices.
