Prince George, B.C. - Hosting BC has agreed to support the World Baseball Challenge Host Society in staging the 2009 Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines World Baseball Challenge. The Society has been approved for $20,000 from the Hosting BC grant program, which is funded by the Province of BC and 2010 Legacies Now, with the goal of promoting the province as a premier sport event destination.

The World Baseball Challenge is set to take place July 16-26 in Prince George featuring athletes competing on the international stage of amateur baseball. With support from the International Baseball Federation, assistance from Baseball Canada and Baseball BC, Prince George will try to host this event every two years. It provides athletes, coaches and officials the opportunity for elite training/scouting and an opportunity for sport development and awareness on an international level.
