Deadline Nears for Hamper Applications

There are just a few days left for those in need to register for Christmas hamper and Meal Voucher.

Usually, the registrations for the Salvation Army hampers are taken the last week of November and first full week of December. This year, the timing has changed. Registrations for 2005 have been underway for one week already, and will close at 2:30 this Friday afternoon.

That might explain why the demand was a little lower than usual when the numbers were counted last Friday, but today, the Salvation Army says it is swamped.

Normally there is a call for 800 to 850 hampers, but the numbers have already hit 500 and there are still 3 days to go.
Community Ministries Worker Judy Fisher says residents of Prince George have been very generous but there is still a need for toys and items for the food bank.
